Topic: Reduce the Speed in your SUV When You See These Winter Signs

Pay close attention to signs indicating slippery conditions when the roadway is wet, covered with snow, or icy. These signs are usually placed where most of the accidents happen, at the beginning of icy curves, or near areas with heavy shade where the snow and ice seldom melts.

You may or may not see such signs before bridges and overpasses. Bridges many times freeze before the highway does so you may encounter one unexpectedly because the roadway leading up to the bridge may be dry.

Bridges over or near fast running water are especially icy because the water below often kicks up an almost invisible mist that freezes on the road surface.
