Small streams like the one shown at the left are easily crossed. Deeper and faster running rivers like the one shown below are another matter altogether.

Please read the web pages that follow entitled "Small Creeks and Streams" and "Deep Water" for details about each of these different kinds of water crossings.

Please head the "Tread Lightly" symbol in the photo at the top left. Crossing meadows and streams can damage the environment. Please stay on roads and cross where the road crosses the stream.

DANGER: Please head the warnings about deep or swift running water in this section of our training course. The possibility of drowning while trying to cross is very real ! And anytime you anticipate crossing water of any kind, it's a good idea to have another SUV companion along.
