As you travel down logging or 4wd roads, you often have to move to the far right or left side to avoid oncoming traffic or perhaps, deep ruts as shown in the bottom photo.

Note the yellow circle, which indicates the location of the cellular phone antenna. Note in the photo at the top, far left that the antenna has a spring shape to it in the center. Note in the photo at the near left (inside red circle) that the spring portion of the antenna has caught on some low hanging branches. You can kiss this antenna good-bye because the branch will tear it right out of its socket.

Avoiding low hanging branches is of course, the best remedy. But when this cannot be done, removing the antenna is the next best thing. Most of them unscrew easily from their base.
