Topic: Off Road Etiquette - Leave Nothing Behind
Previous TopicNext TopicHelp
When you travel off the road in your Sport Utility Vehicle, you can help keep our public lands beautiful by taking everything out that you came in with.

Direction signs that you may set up to show the way to your campsite like those shown in the top photograph should be placed on message posts instead of being nailed to trees. Regardless of where you place them, remember to remove them when you are on your way back home.

Carry a full size garbage bag with you where ever you go off the road and you will have a place to put all the trash you create. You will also find many trash receptacles on most public lands where you can deposit the stuff you want to discard.

If you have some room left in your trash bag, consider picking up other trash you may find along the way. Public lands belong to all of us and if most of us pick up a little after those who are less considerate, those lands will be more pleasant for all of us to use.
