Topic: Off Road Etiquette - Respect Signs
Previous TopicNext TopicHelp
If you are an off road traveler with a rifle, shotgun, or handgun, this web page is specifically for you. The signs along the way like those shown here are not targets. They are in fact, important navigational aids and are absolutely necessary for those who may be lost in the woods. See our web page section about Forest Service maps and finding your way if you become lost.

If you would like to target practice, find an approved range where the shooting environment is safe. Or use an established shooting area on our public lands. Hunting and shooting on our public forests is legal but you must assure that you are firing in an uninhabited direction and these days, that is very hard to do because of the vast numbers of people using our off road areas.
